The challenge of uncovering new commercial opportunities for enterprise growth

February 16, 2017 - 0 Comments

Guiding Transmission Link – a North West based telecoms agency focused on servicing small and medium businesses across Greater Manchester – following a successful first year of trading, Direct Path supported founder Adam Porter in generating an innovative business growth plan to help scale his ambitions.

With a keen eye on sustainable growth, our first step was working with the owner to determine business strengths. Having provided comprehensive communications services and complimentary phone accessories to its clients, Transmission Link’s USP lay in being positioned alongside the cloud IT and mobile providers it worked alongside.

As a small business owner, Adam’s roadblocks lay in being a sole director and working long hours to service every element of the business. Resourcing was increasingly becoming a business growth challenge, so working with Direct Path, we determined support was needed across both customer services and business development.

Through scoping with Adam, broad societal changes necessitated a broader look at the economy and shifting technology. While the steady move to more flexible and remote working patterns – making ISDN lines increasingly redundant – opened up market opportunities, an unpredictable economic environment posed a big risk.

Transmission Link employs the highest standards of professionalism and Ameena meets all of our criteria and more. Her integrity, enthusiasm and true dedication are exceptional – a first class consultant who helped us to build our business strengths and achieve a faster growth trajectory.

Working with Adam, Direct Path focused the business’ efforts in three ways.

With considerable changes taking place within technology, and more agile, connected ways of working being required for all businesses, sharing industry-related knowledge and pooling key competencies with related businesseswas posited as a way to make Transmission Link more resilient in the coming years.

Building on the business strengths already in place, opening a call centre to support other organisations throughout the supply chain would serve to help furtherstrengthen business relationships, as well as generate additional revenue for the organisation, thereby improving profitability for Transmission Link too.

Working more cooperatively, and following a wholly entrepreneurial industry-led strategy, Direct Path worked with Adam to establish a three-year strategy for the business. With a clear year one action plan in place, and plans to bring on new resource by the end of year one, the new opportunities ahead would enable Transmission Link to grow.
